Howard A Perlman AIA,

Designer, President and Founder of Perlman Architects

In 1977 Howard opened his first office in Phoenix. In 1991 he moved the firm’s headquarters to Las Vegas where it is today. In 2002 he designed the District, the first Mixed-Use Lifestyle Center in Nevada, and in 2013 he trademarked his Live Work® and Multi Gen® home concepts, launching Lennar’s Next-Gen “home within a home” brand that has swept the industry and the nation.

“We honor tradition, but we design for the way people live today.” Howard studied at the French Institutes Ecole des Bueaux-Arts in Versailles and at the Ecole Nacional des Arts Decoratif in Nice, France. He graduated with honors from the University of Illinois, Champaign, Urbana in 1973 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He still travels extensively because “The world is a beautiful place, and full of great ideas!”

Mr Perlman is licensed in AZ, NV, NM, CA, UT, CO, TX, FL, OH, ND, NJ, and NY. He holds memberships in the AIA, NCARB, ICSC, NAIOP, SNHBA, and the UNLV Presidents Association. He is the President of Ahavas Torah Congregation, sits on the Executive Board of YDLV, and the Advisory Board of Touro University. He’s married to Orly Perlman and has four children.

Ken Powers

Architect, LEED AP, Principal, Phoenix

From mayor’s to firefighters, Ken’s clients appreciate his calm demeanor and methodical approach – qualities that have enabled him to navigate his team through complex municipal programs to award winning designs. “It’s all about our team. We hear our clients, their goals and expeditions, and have the talent, organization, respect and mutual trust to successfully deliver.”

Ken graduated from ASU in 1985 with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree and has over 30 years of experience in Municipal, Residential and Commercial Architecture. He holds memberships in the AFDA, AFCA, USGBC, ICC, NFPA, HBACA and is involved in several Public Safety & Residential Organizations. Ken and his wife Susan have two sons.

Rick Salyer

Director of Residential, Las Vegas

Rick Salyer is the firms “Guru” of Multi-Family, Assisted Living and Mixed-use projects. He oversees the administrative and technical functions of all residential projects from planning and design through entitlements and construction.

In his words, “The road to profitability and great design is mapped in detailed, accurate construction documents.” Rick works extensively with officials from Zoning, Health, Building and HUD. He is an expert in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Fair Housing Act Guidelines (FHAG), the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS) and the American National Standards Institute’s (ANSI A117.1) accessibility standards.

Rick graduated from The University of Arizona in 1992 with a Bachelor of Architecture, Cum Laude. He has over 23 years of experience including more than 20 years with our firm. When not in the office, Rick is a Baseball Coach and Boy Scout Troop Leader for he and his wife Annette’s two children.

Jim Naven

Senior Planner, Director of Operations, Las Vegas

Jim has has been with Perlman Architects for close to 30 years. He is the head of the firm’s Planning Department and was the Principal Planner for The District at Green Valley Ranch, as well as many other residential, retail, mixed-use and redevelopment projects.

Whether creating spaces for commerce, entertainment, reflection or security, Jim’s site planning work always balances aesthetics with common sense engineering practices. Ever calm, ever practical, his work seamlessly blends our architecture to it’s site.

Jim has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska and is a licensed Architect in AZ and CO, and an RD in NV. He also oversees the firms CAD systems, IT, and Document Control. Jim and his wife Donelle have six children and five grandchildren.

Jason M. Hoeg, RD

Senior Designer, Director, Las Vegas

Jason is our Single Family Home guru. From custom to production homes, he has natural feel for spatial relationships, assembling elegant but sensible floor plans in light speed. His versatility allows him to design artistic homes within a broad range of architectural styles, from desert contemporary to prairie, to just about any traditional order.

Jason’s best attribute however is his dedication to his clients and his team. No matter what the request or deadline, with the most positive of attitudes, he delivers. Jason has an AAS Degree and is a licensed RD in Nevada. He holds certifications in CAD Drafting Technology and IRC Residential Building Inspection.

Gerrald Adams

LEED AP, Director of Commercial, Phoenix

Gerrald has over 21 years of Public Safety, Retail, and Commercial experience. His expertise in CD’s, QC/VE, Building Code/ADA and CA has made him an integral part of the firm’s overall success and the reason that our commercial and institutional clients keep coming back!

Priding himself himself on his professionalism, Gerrald’s commitment to providing his clients with outstanding design has garnered the firm many awards including the APWA Project of the Year, nine FIERO Awards, six Station Style Awards, two Chandler Architectural Excellence Awards, and three USGBC LEED Heavy Metal Awards, just to list a few.

Gerrald attended the University of New Mexico, the University of Maryland Burn Building Design & Construction Symposium, and the Phoenix Institute of Technology. He graduated with honors in 1991 and is an active member in ICBO, AFDA, AFCA, USGBC and ICSC. Gerrald and his wife Tina enjoy visiting national parks and forests around the country.

Brian S. Holman

Production Leader, Director, Las Vegas

Brian has extensive experience in the management of projects of various types including commercial, residential, hotel, and public schools. His dual degrees in architecture and Interior Design helps him to emphasize as an architect on designing, project management, construction administration, bidding, negotiation, scheduling, and contract negotiation.
